David Beckham’s Former Bodyguard Craig Ainsworth Found Dead
Craig Ainsworth, a former bodyguard to David and Victoria Beckham and Royal Marine veteran, has been found dead in Spain after a heartbreaking farewell message.
Craig Ainsworth, a former Royal Marine and ex-bodyguard to David and Victoria Beckham, has tragically been found dead following an extensive police search in Spain. His mother, Sally Ainsworth, confirmed the devastating news over the weekend in a heartfelt social media post.
Craig, who had been struggling with PTSD after serving in Afghanistan, had posted what appeared to be a farewell message on Facebook before going missing. His mother shared that authorities had focused their search around Alicante and Barcelona, after his last known communication.
In her emotional update, Sally wrote:
“Craig has been found. With the greatest sadness, the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and he had PTSD.”
She also posted a photo of her son in uniform, simply captioned: “RIP Craig.”

A Decorated Marine and Trusted Bodyguard
Craig, believed to be 40 years old, was known for his service in the Royal Marines and later as a personal security officer for high-profile clients. He worked for the Beckhams between 2013 and 2015, during their time living in London’s Holland Park.
He reflected on his time with the famous couple in an interview after the release of Netflix’s Beckham documentary series:
“David was charming. Victoria kept to herself—she’d be with the kids or working. Their kids are well-behaved. To have that level of fame and maintain their family unit, they must be doing something right.”
Before working with the Beckhams, Craig underwent intense security training, including being pepper-sprayed and completing drills such as taking down an MMA fighter in the dark. He also signed a 50-year non-disclosure agreement, one of the most extensive ever reported, before taking on the role.
In addition to the Beckhams, Craig also provided protection for Hollywood stars like Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Community Tributes Pour In
Tributes to Craig have flooded in online. Middlesex University professor Linda Duffy wrote:
“I’m so sorry for your loss Sally. Condolences to all the family. Thank you for your service Craig. A brave Royal Marine.”
Another friend, Susannah Washington, offered her support:
“Sending hugs, and you know everyone is thinking of you and sending their love at this devastating time.”
As of now, the exact location and circumstances of Craig’s death have not been officially disclosed.
