Georgia Harry, 26, died nearly a month after a fall at Lost bar in Liverpool. An inquest confirmed it was a tragic accident after a night out with friends.
What started as a fun night out in Liverpool turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for 26-year-old Georgia Harry, who died nearly a month after falling down a flight of stairs in a city centre bar.
Georgia, a civil servant from Aigburth, had been out with friends on Sunday, March 16. She met up with her friend Michael Pollard around 3pm at Punch Tarmey’s before catching up with someone else. Later that night, around 2am on March 17, she bumped into Michael again at Lost bar on Seel Street. According to him, Georgia had been drinking both lager and vodka throughout the evening.
Around 2:15am, the two of them left their group to head downstairs to the toilets. Michael said Georgia was holding onto his arm when suddenly, her legs just gave out. She fell backwards down the stairs, hitting her head hard on the concrete floor.
One witness, Sean Moogan, who wasn’t drinking that night, saw it happen. In a statement, he said: “I was in Lost on Seel Street seeing my friends. I wasn’t drinking at all this night. I had just been inside the toilets. As I have got to the stairwell, I have seen a male and female walking down the stairs.”
He added that her legs gave way about six steps from the bottom and that they “swung up to head height” as she fell. Michael rushed to help and screamed Georgia’s name. Sean, who used to be a personal trainer and had first aid training, told him to stay calm and not move her in case her injuries were serious.

Paramedics arrived and took Georgia to Aintree Hospital, where she was evaluated and later transferred to The Walton Centre. A toxicology report showed her blood alcohol level was 294—more than three and a half times the drink-drive limit—and she had a small amount of ketamine in her system. Sadly, on April 13, Georgia passed away after being kept on life support for nearly a month.
During the inquest at Gerard Majella Courthouse, it was revealed that the bar’s stairs didn’t have slip-resistant strips—a safety measure that has since been corrected. Area Coroner Anita Bhardwaj noted that it was “more than likely that she did slip.”
There was an initial police investigation into whether Georgia had been pushed, but Detective Inspector Dillon from Merseyside Police concluded that wasn’t the case. CCTV footage showed Georgia walking arm-in-arm with Michael just before the fall. In a statement read out during the hearing, it was said that she was seen “falling at speed” and hitting her head between two camera angles.
Georgia’s mum, Nicola Poulton, described her daughter as “fun, outgoing and hardworking” and someone who “always had a smile on her face.”
A post-mortem confirmed that Georgia died from extensive brain injuries caused by the fall.
Wrapping up the inquest, Coroner Bhardwaj said: “More likely than not that Georgia has died from the injuries sustained from the fall. From the evidence we have heard, there is nothing to suggest that it was nothing more than an accident. Georgia Leigh Harry died by an accident.” She added: “These are absolutely tragic circumstances surrounding her death.”
